Hackettstown, N.J. (May 1, 2009) – The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is pleased to announce that Dawn Whyte, of the Lake Street Design Studio in Petoskey, MI, has been named a winner in the 2009 NKBA Design Competition.

Dawn Whyte was awarded Honorable Mention in the Powder Rooms category. Dawn Whyte specializes in the design, planning, and installation of complete kitchens and bathrooms and maintains a showroom at 404 East Lake Street, Petoskey, MI. Now in its 37th year and open only to NKBA members, the NKBA
Design Competition recognizes the talent of kitchen and bathroom
designers to plan safe, functional, and personalized spaces that incorporate imaginative design statements and aesthetically pleasing solutions. A panel of NKBA certified designers judged each project based on visual appeal, creativity, elements and principles of design, presentation, and safety and ergonomics, using the NKBA Kitchen and Bath Planning Guidelines. For 2009, the NKBA received a record number of entries—over 679 projects from across the United States and Canada.

Winners were announced at the 2009 NKBA Design Competition Awards Ceremony live on the show floor of the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show and Conference (K/BIS) held in Atlanta in May. Winners receive peer recognition and valuable publicity opportunities, such as possible inclusion in local and national publications. Winners also receive awards, cash prizes, and registration to K/BIS. The NKBA would like to thank the generous sponsors of the 2009 NKBA Design Competition: Sub-Zero/Wolf, Miele, This Old House, GE Monogram, Rheem, Dal-Tile, and American Woodmark.
